Fancy Name for a Budget Motel
My husband and I went to Honolulu recently and booked this hotel's one bedroom "suite". The higher you are in the Imperial the better it gets. However, not even on the 17th floor were the rooms that great. Many things were dirty in the room (sheets, kitchen stuff, etc.) and the air conditioning didnt work. The bed is what put me over the edge. It must have been made of concrete. Most of the staff were very pleasant, but I'm from NY so everyone seemed nice to me in Hawaii. We did get moved to a better room right away, which was nice. I have to say, I was warned this was a "budget hotel" by my agent and he was very honest about everything, but I was looking to save money. My mistake. I will definitly pay a bit more for a more reputable hotel or condo next time. After all, this is my hard earned vacation time. I have learned a valuable lesson. |

We will be back
My wife and I stayed, with our two kids for two weeks. My wife and I stayed in a studio room, while the kids stayed with the grandparents, who have a time share. in a one bedroom with a murphy bed and a sofabed. Our room also had the murphy bed and a sofabed. We slept on the murphy, which was very comfortable. The room was clean and well organized and had all the kitchenware we needed, and if you needed something like a blender or extra dresser or even a full size fridge they sent it up. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, especially Jules who works at the little tour desk in the lobby. The inlaws room was on the 24th floor and had a nice view of the ocean at sunset, which to me is nice but I don't want to look at it for two weeks. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing Lewers Street. It hade a larger lanai than the inlaws had, which was more to my liking, because I like to people watch. We would sit out there every morning, while my wife drank her coffee, I would read the paper. The hotel is close enough to the beach and shopping that you can walk almost everywhere. I would definitley recommend it to family friends in the future. We will be back, hopefully in early 2010. |

great location
If you want a place to sleep that is close to the beach and right on the new beach walk you can't go wrong. The Imperial does have dated decor, but my husband and I were there for a week in Nov 07 and it served its purpose. The pool area is extremely small, but who cares? The beach is steps away!! The staff were very nice, however be warned that with the construction of Trump Towers there is a lot of noise..especially if you are on a lower level. All in all it was an average place to stay, but for the location...it is great! |

Enjoyable Vacation
Thought that this hotel was in a great location. Close to beach, shops, restaurants and even for a quick meal - Denny's on the ground floor. Trump likes the area - he's building a condo-hotel right nearby. The Sheraton and Royal Hawaiian are within quick walking distance. Tour package desk located in the lobby with helpful personnel. Remodeling plans are in the works; don't know how long that will take though. Right now, one penthouse suite dedicated to timeshare owner's use. Very convenient and spacious for spending time when you have to check out of your room but are not leaving the hotel area until later. We used it for several hours. Pool and hot tub on top (open) deck. Exercise room and laundry facilities available. All in all, thought it was a good value. |

We are timeshare owners at the Imperial. Yes, it is a Botique condominium but the location of the property is incredible. The beach is across the street, the restaurants and shopping are more than adequate, and most of all, it is in a desirable part of Waikiki. We feel safe at the Imperial and the staff is wonderful. Overall, the people staying at the Imperial are return guests over the years. As owners we are very happy and proud to be part of the Imperial of Waikiki "family". |

Not a HAPPY Place to stay
The room was Ok, for 2 people, if you had 4 or 6 as stated in the ad, you would have been sitting in each others laps and very limited on sopace, bathroom very out dated. A/C in the bedroom was controlled by the A/C in the bedroom from the unit next door, we had no control over the A/C control in our bedroom, and this was a MAJOR PROBLEM that was never corrected. The little refrig had to be pulled out from under the cabinets so air movement could circulate behind it, or it would over heat and the inside would not cool down. the halls had a bad smell to them. and the desk clerk seemed as she did not like her job. WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. |

Just the right stuff
My mother-in-law has the time share here and NEVER uses it! They would rather go to Laughlin..... My husband and I have stayed with the folks at the Imperial 3 times over the years (1993, 1998 and 2008) and have enjoyed every visit. The staff is very friendly and most helpful. Sure this isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel, but who wants to stay in a hotel all day when there is "Hawaii" outside to enjoy. After all, isn't a vacation an adventure waiting to happen? Go play!
We are planning our fourth trip… Jan. 2010!
