What People Are Saying:

Love This Resort!

My first stay at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu from 9/2004-9/8/04 was a joy to experience! I shared a room with a longtime friend, and the room was very spacious, clean, with 2 full closets, one for each of us, an iron, hair dryer, toiletries, clean sheets, towels, room with a gorgeous view of the ocean overlooking the pool, and a great lanai. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, going out of their way to advise us of good local spots to see, and dine at (try Giovanni's fish truck!). We took advantage of the $50.00 room meal credit, and found it more than adequate to pay for both of our dinners nightly. There was free poolside entertainment every night, the lobby is magnificently decorated. I can't say enough about the courteous staff at the desk, and at poolside, where fresh towels were provided at a moment's notice. Yes, there were some local people in the jacuzzi and pool, but they were very friendly. Oh, also, the food/chefs were phenomenal, providing great variety, and fresh food nightly. Perhaps some people might not like locals, and require a mint on their pillow, or help within one second of their request, and perhaps I am more laid back than some of the reviewers, but I found everyone to be happy, courteous, and friendly. I love Hawaii, and relish the laid back lifestyle, without the hustle and bustle, and find the slow pace relaxing and enjoyable. If the prior reviewers didn't have a great time, maybe Hawaii altogether is not for them! This was my 3rd trip to Hawaii, and the first stay at Turtle Bay, and I would highly recommentd it to all. Keep your mints, give me happy people, great food, and a real sense of Aloha anytime! Oh, and you can have the tourist influenced Polynesian Village, too! THAT is NOT the Hawaii I have come to cherish! Aloha and Mahalo Hawaii for your heart!

Dreaming of Turtle Bay

My Family and I came to Hawaii for the first time last December. It had been a dream of mine since I was a teenager living on the North Shore in Sydney, Australia. I had found Turtle Bay via the net and it was a dream come true. We all shared the one room, as our dollar doesn't buy that much in the USA, but that didn't spoil our holiday. The two teenage boys loved the pool, game room and generally hanging out while my partner and I sipped Mai Tais and flower drinks at any opportunity by the pool. The waves crashing into the rocks at this time of year was spectacular! I personally enjoyed the coffee cart in the mornings - a great way to save a dollar by getting take-away coffee and treats and enjoyed by the pool or on our balcony. We had a wonderful family day exploring the walks and secluded beaches around the hotel and I felt like I was on Gillingan’s Isle, the TV show. The big surf at this time of year is amazing. We just stumbled into a major surf competition at Waimea Bay! A great hotel, great staff - ALL of us enjoyed ourselves and are hoping to come back very soon. Maybe then I can afford a room for us (my partner & I ) and one for the boys. Until then I dream of Hawaii and Turtle Bay.

Island Paradise

I recently visited the island of Oahu and split up my time between Waikiki and Turtle Bay. After many days of being a tourist and shopping it was so nice to get to Turtle Bay where it is so quiet with a much slower pace of life. I found this to be heaven on earth! I actually had an oceanfront cottage which sits on the west side of the property. These are so nice! They are all one story and have their own patios that lead out to the grass then the beautiful ocean. On this side of the property there is not too much sand and its a little too rough to get into the water. This was nice because even during the day it was really quiet and peaceful. I'd just sit on my patio and read a book. Beware though if you plan on hanging out there at night the bugs are there! I purchased some bug spray at the sundry shop they have up by the pool and was good to go after that. I loved staying here, but the best part was that I didn't have to fly to another island to get the peace and tranquility I was looking for.
Christine, Wood Ranch, CA

Staff was friendly and responsive. Rooms, lobby and grounds were absolutely beautiful and well-kept. Would definitely return again.
D. Valeri, Groveland, MA

Above average

Our overall experience was very good. Very clean and well cared for property. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We did find the food service a little over priced. There are a lot of nearby properties for food that were much more reasonable with better atmosphere. I am one not to use credit cards which does present a problem with this property. They request a $150.00 a day room credit be applied to your account at check-in for the number of days you are staying. I feel this should be applied daily and not all up-front. Would I stay again, yes. Would I recommend, yes! VERY NICE! The Waack's Grand Mound, Iowa PS: I might add we were guest during the seanomie and the resort handled everything very well, they had a plan in place for this kind of event.
Richard Waack, Grand Mound, IA

They give out room keys to anyone!

Some random guest went to the front desk and asked for a room key, without any ID or even asking for a name the front desk freely gave this person a room key. Luckily we were there when this person accessed OUR room. He appoligized, he sincerely thought that this was his room number and that the front desk had given him this key!! What if we had not been around? My laptop, all of our shopping bags could have been taken!!! The manager phoned us and told us that a "rookie" had given this guy a room key and he "sat down and had a talk with him". That was the end of it. He reassured us that it would not happen again.... but HOW are we supposed to know that another "rookie" wont make the same mistake? Very disappointed in how the management dealt with the situation.

Beautiful Resort, EXCELLENT Price

For our honeymoon, we got an amazing deal at The Turtle Bay Resort through Great Hawaii Vacations. It included a 7th night free, free breakfast for two every day, and two free luau passes at the Polynesian Cultural Center (which we found out typically go for $110/person). The Turtle Bay area is very peaceful and serene, which is exactly what we were looking for. The beaches, the pool, the incredible snorkeling, and the beautiful sunsets over the water were exactly what we expected. Our only complaint is that the rooms were a bit "tired" and could use a remodel. Aside from that, everything was perfect. Thank you GHV! We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family...

Want to get out of the city? Go to Turtle Bay Resort!

I went to the Turtle Bay Resort by myself on a well deserved vacation. I'm an avid golfer so I took advantage of the Turtle Bay Resort Golf Packages through Great Hawaii Vacations. I could not have asked for a more pleasant or peaceful stay. The golfing was great and I got a great deal of fun for the money. I certainly look forward to working with Great Hawaii Vacations and the Turtle Bay Resort again!
Alison C., New York, NY

Best Golf EVER!

I'm an avid golfer and have gone all over the place to do so. The Turtle Bay golfing was one of the most terrific experiences for my golfing hobby. Pricing was affordable and the resort itself is inviting, tremendous and full of aloha spirit.

Hidden charges

This was my first visit to hawaii, A much looked forward to family get together . When we checked in we were each told"our rooms had been upgraded at no cost " That appeared to be a ploy as I had the same type of room as booked. Others got queen beds when Kings had been specified etc The restaurant was being renovated and dinner was only available at a buffet which had three choices at quite a cost. The most surprise was the bill at check out the single room in my case was 259.00. I was charged A a room occupancy tax of 20.88,a resort fee of 25.00, another resort fee of 1.18, a general excise tax of 10.64 this was added on each day . At no time was I ever told about these extra charges . I think this was very deceptive . so . The renovations etc can be Accepted, but false or misleading pricing is something else so no I will not be returning to your resort W. Senecal
