1. Why did you choose to go to Hawaii? Had you been there before?

We chose Hawaii because it is the untimate paradise. The people are amazing, the weather is great (even when it rains) and the scenery is the most beautiful there is. The direct flights from Oregon to Maui make it really easy (Hawaiian Airlines is the BEST). And there was that lifelong dream of becoming a professional hula dancer too.

2. Was there any special occasion for this trip (i.e. honeymoon, anniversary, wedding, etc.)?

The special occasion is we have decided to take a vacation each year to celebrate everyting that happened sine the last time we went on vacation! Life is too short NOT to go on vacation and have adventures.

3. What did you think about Napili Point?

Loved it. It is close to the beach but just far enough away to be completely private. Our condo was enormous, very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The staff was great too. Really an incredible value — we would definitely stay there again.

4. Did you do any activities while you were on the island?  If so, what were they? Would you recommend others doing them?

We did every activity we could do…in between lying on the beach staring at the waves, which was an activity itself. Hana, of course, is an absolute must. Boogie boarding was great — check out the beaches near Kapalua. Snorkeling is incredible, especially in the cove. The sea turtles are rather friendly there too! Our favorite golf course is the Kapalua Bay course — great for ALL levels of club swingers.


5. Overall, how would you rate your trip?

The trip was fabulous. 5 star, A+, perfect. We were in Hawaii.

6. Do you have any tips you'd like to share with other people going to Maui?  Or staying at Napili Point?

Load up on all the fresh banana bread and coconut candy you see at each little roadside stand. It is food for the soul. The chocolate decadence dessert at Roy's ain't bad either. Don't forget that you can't tell that it is raining if you are swimming in the ocean…and the rainbows are the best. Probably the biggest tip that I have is to check out the guidebooks for the great places and restaurants but finding things out for yourself is a big part of the adventure. Make each sunset an event.  

7. What made you decide to book with Great Hawaii Vacations?

Kavan Murphy. I called around to a number of companies and once I chatted with Kavan, I knew that this was the company and agent that I wanted to work with. Vacations are sacred and the booking process can really make (or break) the experience. Kavan really enhanced our vacation from the start.


8.  Were you satisfied with the level of service you received throughout the company?

I could not be MORE satisfied with the thoroughness, efficiency and personalization Great Hawaii Vacations and Kavan provided. I received all the info that I needed via mail and email in a very timely manner. I even received a follow-up email, showing me this company's commitment to excellent guest service.

9.  Any other information you think would be relevant?

Don't forget about the banana bread :).

When you’re in business for 14 years, you need to be doing a lot of things right. One of the things we pride ourselves on most is customer service. Feeling the need to further elevate this level of service, we hired Cheryl Fischer, our current Guest Services Manager.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Cheryl came to us with 12 years of customer service experience. She was initially hired to assist with the growing customer demand. She quickly displayed an extraordinary knack for problem solving with exceptional customer care. After six short months, we promoted her to manage the entire department.In this new role, she was responsible for continuing to foster the wonderful relationships that Janet and Joel (co-owners) had worked so hard to build over the past several years. When they travel to Hawaii they are time and time again welcomed by our Hawaiian travel partners. When a Hawaiian welcomes you into his or her home it is a sign of great respect and admiration and not something to be taken lightly. The personal relationships we have forged is what makes us stand out from the competition. It is because of these close personal relationships that we are able to offer such a high level of service in terms of accommodating requests for our guests and dealing with any other issues that may arise, especially when the clients are in the middle of their vacation. When you call in with a question or request Cheryl is able to call on any one of her friends at the different properties to try and make that request a reality.
