It is true that this is very inexpensive route to go...The standard rooms are in need of attention, some renotivating definitely would not hurt. However if you upgrade and get a room on the ocean side you will be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are newer and have those extras (coffee maker,hair dryer,etc.)that will make your stay that much better. Private beaches, very low key, no crowd, very relaxing and enjoyable. Public transit roles right through there also if you want to save money and not rent a car. Nearest strip mall only 15min. Away by foot and by transit a mere 6min. I loved it and I will return. And a big thanks to the staff at the Maui Lu for their kindness and continued effort to make you comfortable…

Perfect Honeymoon

We stayed at the Aston Maui Lu for our Honeymoon in 1992. We loved it. It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet and intimate. Not one of those hotels that are too large and busy whereby the beach is miles away from the room. We wanted peace and quite and found it at the Aston. The room was terrific with a bedroom loft overlooking the ocean. Could not have been more romantic. The view was wonderful. Sat outside on the balcony and the beach was a stone's throw away. The staff was gracious as well. Someday when we decide to return to Maui, we want to return to the Aston and hopefully book the same room.

Great Place to Stay for a Reasonable Rate

My sister & I stayed at the Maui Lu, and for the reasonable price it was well worth it! They kept the grounds very well maintained and the view from our deck in the 600 building was beautiful. We had a choice of going to the beach cove there or walking a few feet to a public beach area, which was beautiful. The maids were all super nice esp. Vola she was a sweetie. If I had one complaint it would be that the ice machine didnt work downstairs. That is nott much of a complaint in my book! For the money, the Maui Lu is the place to stay and I'll be back again someday!

Magic spot in Maui

We have stayed now several times at the Aston Maui Lu. The location is excellent for a walk on the beach or just sitting in front of your room and listening to the ocean. Close to restaurants and shops, very friendly and helpful staff. Okay, so it is a little older but it has the Aloha style that other resorts will never give to you. A 10+ from us and C Ya again in 2007 and on!!!

What God left on Maui

I am a 53 year old business man from central Indiana. My wife and I have traveled all over the United States and have seen a lot of things. With that said if you have not taken a week and stayed at Aston Maui Lu you may need to. One of the best trips I have taken. They will make you feel at home and will not interrupt your stay. The staff is great and the location is the best I have seen.
If you need a 5 star hotel and all the glitz and lights do not go there, but if you need a rest and one of the nicest places to get it is there. The Maui Lu was magical. The ocean view room /lanai gave us breathtaking sunsets and an unspoiled views of the ocean. The private cove was about 30 yards from our door the grounds were impeccable. The staff was outstanding. You can sit on the beach in the morning and have coffee and just get your self in the mind set for a great day. There is a lot to see on Maui and a lot of great places to eat but the best is just to relax and enjoy what GOD left on Maui. We loved waking up in our room and the falling asleep, listening to the ocean waves. Please do not destroy the place. We will be back God willing. Thanks for a great stay and SHAKA!

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at the Maui Lu! We visited in January of 2010 and stayed at the oceanfront building. The upgrade well worth it!
We couldn't wish for a better vacation! We are not into busy places, since we have very busy jobs, so we were just where we wanted to be...Beautiful view and wonderful sounds of the ocean, unintrusive, polite, but very nice and helpful staff. Just a few minutes drive to many places on the island, but the seclusion and peace are right there, when you want it! Magic! We will definitely be back next year! Same room, we hope, but a longer stay that time, with God's will!
