Spa Name:  The Ritz Carlton Spa - Opening June 2008

The Boutique Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, inspired by Waihua, offers a variety of treatments, therapies and salon services incorporating Hawaiian healing and the rich plants, flowers, fruits and herbs that are abundant in the islands.

The new Ritz-Carlton Spa, Kapalua is set to open at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in June 2008, based on the healing waters of Waihua, which the ancient Hawaiians believed was the most pure form of water which was captured by the leaves of the taro plant.

The spa will incorporate the natural colors of the landscape from the mountains to the sea. The Waihua concept will be evident from the moment of guest arrival, with wood panels carved with images of taro leaves, to the dry stone river bed design on the floor. The walls throughout the spa will be curved representing water movement, and guests will walk through groves of tall bamboo, creating a sense of being in a secluded forest. Raw natural ingredients found in the spa treatments will be placed in alcoves. Before entering the relaxation lounges, guests will go through a compressed space representative of a canyon, to help them transcend and leave behind any stress from the outside world.

Many of the spa treatments will incorporate natural ingredients such as pineapple, papaya, Kukui oil, coconut, pumpkin and blueberry. The spa will feature a range of innovative facials using Murad products and the organic line of Naturopathica, along with Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusions treatments, which are a luxurious marriage of state of the art oxygen technology and restorative relaxation.
