They have huge dinner portions of great food - grilled fresh island fish, lobster tail, New Zealand rack of lamb, garlic tenderloin filet, perfectly sauted scallops, juicy teriyaki chicken breast, or combinations - and all meals come with rice, bread, and a (refillable) plate for the salad bar.

It's a generally informal place with a friendly and pleasant air, but it gets super busy, although they'll let you make a reservation if you have 6+ people in your party.

Phone Number: (808) 742-1555
Open Daily: Seating 6pm-8:30pm. Remains open throughout the evening.

One of our favorite restaurants in all of Hawaii. Randall Yates and his wife Joanna have been treating residents and visitors to their culinary delight for over 19 years in Kauai.

You'll find Italian fine dining at Casa Di Amici in Poipu, where strong Italian flavors blend well with international and local Hawaiian ones. There's a romantic feel perfect for special occasion meals, and space and ambiance for families and large parties as well.

Their fettuccine alfredo is the best of the best, but there are plenty of other delicious entrees, too - tender filet mignon or porcini crusted chicken breast in sundried cherry port wine and mushroom sauce (served with parmesan-basil "polenta points"). And appetizers are delicious, like risotto Kalua pork and cabbage, or shrimp and ahi Thai sticks with a sweet and spicy chili/wasabi/peanut flavor. There are also salads that use local Kilauea organic greens and their huge slice of chocolate torte is worth sharing for dessert.

Reservations are requested, and try for an outside deck table at dusk for a dining experience near tropical plants and a Kauai sunset view. If you can go on a Saturday evening there's also romantic live piano music.

Address: 3610 Rice St.
Phone Number: (808) 246-9599

Duke's Kauai was named in honor of surf legend Duke Kahanamoku and is part of a chain of a few great Hawaiian restaurants. Their large open-air main room is like one huge deck, brushed by palms and other tall Hawaiian trees, and overlooks the Kalapaki beach harbor where you can see ships on the move. There's usually a light breeze and even more lush foliage in and around the 30-foot waterfall that flows right through the space.

Food is served on brightly-colored and tropical-patterned plates and Hawaiian musicians play every evening. The downstairs Barefoot Bar offers a bar menu and also showcases Hawaiian music, of both the classic serenade and contemporary genres.

Their menu includes plenty of fresh fish but there's also great burgers, tacos, and a large salad bar with lots of crisp veggies and fresh fruit. There's even great steak and prime rib, plus a variety of desserts. Try a shrimp cocktail appetizer (with guava dip) and fresh fish of the day - like the monchong if it's available - prepared "Duke's style," baked in garlic, lemon and sweet basil glaze.

Duke's is a casual but busy spot frequented by a great mix of residents and visitors. It's worth the crowd, however, since you're guaranteed an ocean view and a truly aloha experience based on its namesake, the surf legend's, own philosophy.

Their "regular special" is filled with a little bit of everything - noodles, pork, fish cake, hard boiled egg, vegetables, and more - and the teriyaki BBQ strips are the perfect complement, along with lilikoi pie or shaved ice for dessert.

It's a small casual place with a few counters and first-come-first-serve bar stools, so grab any empty one you can find or make some friends to chat with while you wait.

Honolulu Magazine and Zagat, among others, have bestowed this cherished restaurant with awards and the dessert list includes wine options, too.

Legend in downtown Honolulu is an authentic Hong Kong dining experience in tropical paradise. In this large bright banquet room decorated Cantonese style, you'll probably hear more Chinese than any other language at your neighbor's tables.

Servers roll carts by at lunch with dim sum options in bamboo steamers, and you can have as much or as little of your choices as you'd like. This seafood restaurant also includes meat and vegetarian options and has one of the most extensive dim sum menus on the island - taro puffs, barbeque pork pastries, scallop and spinach dumplings, and incredible egg custard tarts, among other tasty items.

For dinner, there are seafood dishes like open-faced seafood with shiitake mushrooms and scallops. Some dishes are cooked tableside and most are eaten with chopsticks by the large crowd of Honolulu locals and tourists. But use a fork if you'd like and either way, you'll appreciate the impressive food.
