Great Choice and Great Price!
My friends and I have just returned from ten marvelous days on Kauai.
We chose the Wailua Bay Villas because of its location and affordability. We wanted a comfortable home base to return to after a day's worth of adventure.
This condo fit our requierments to a T. The location is perfect, midway between the North Shore and Poipu, convenient to shopping, theaters and restaurants.
Our unit was roomy enough for adults. The furnishings were not new, but quite comfortable. It was thoughtfully equipped with books, boogie boards, plenty of beach towels and beach chairs, an Igloo ice chest.
We had pleasure of being in a unit with a great view of the ocean and surrounded by the sound of the waves crashing on shore. A great sound to go to sleep by and wake up to!
The complex is quiet and well-manicured. The pool area is small, but hardly used. I found myself alone there for mid-morning swims.
The BBQ area was fun in the evenings. Great sunsets and we got to meet our neighbors and share our days events. Also swapped tips and favorite areas for new exploring. We also found out that not all units are the same.
When booking, try to make sure that you are not near the main road, some people had trouble with road noise at night.
Kauai is such a beautiful and peaceful island, it's very hard to leave. But we will visit again some day! |

Paradise Found
This was our 7th trip to the Hawaiian Islands but our first to Kauai. Knew very little about this island so had no expectations and booked Wailua Condos on the net, taking a bit of a risk as we had traveled so far ,we stayed in unit 315,The moment we walked in the door we knew that we had made a great decision and the view accompanied by the noise of the surf was exactly what we were hoping for , the island ,we covered every inch was Paradise. Have now returned to Tasmania ,mid winter!! extremely cold but with great memories of a great trip . We will return . Ian and Pam Gordon. |

OK, but.......
The Wailua Bayview is in a great location, centrally located to all the sights on Kauai. Our stay in Unit 310, however, would have been much more pleasant if the pillows didn't smell like greasy hair, the bedroom didn't smell like the boys locker room and we didn't have to close our eyes when we showered so we didn't have to see the mildew grow. There was also a thin film of grease on the stove that was very distasteful. The cleaning service needs to get its act together. The TV in the bedroom did not work and we do understand "Island time" but it never was fixed even tho we notified Fred the first day of our stay. And if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely NOT the place for you. 24/7 of the THUNDERING (not gentle lapping) waves makes normal conversation inside impossible as the lanai doors need to remain open all the time to allow the breeze to sort of cool the living area because there is no A/C except for the bedroom. We might return to the Wailua Bayview, but I doubt it. We'll spend a few more dollars and stay in a clean, fully air conditioned property with an ocean view rather than this "ocean front" sweatbox. |
