Sweeping ocean views and brilliant island sunsets provide a magnificent backdrop to the oceanfront dining experience of Pahu i`a, where the indoors are caressed by tradewinds, the waves illuminated by the stars and the gentle surf endlessly soothes.

While the restaurants centrepiece is a brilliant aquarium (Pahu i`a in Hawaiian) its focal point is the vast cobalt blue ocean and rhythmic, rolling surf merely steps away.

At your table, our chefs pay homage to Hawaiis bounty and the surrounding Pacific Ocean. Combined with legendary Four Seasons hospitality and service, it is an inviting atmosphere of relaxed and casual elegance.

Naupaka Terrace, an extension of existing lanai seating, offers panoramic views of the ocean in an intimate setting. Naupaka kahakai is the name of a native Hawaiian shrub that grows naturally along Hawaii's beaches. Its white blossoms appear to be only half of a flower. Four Seasons is the best!

Thank you very much for recommending the Fours Seasons Hualalai as a honeymoon destination. We had never heard of Hualalai, but of course we knew the Four Seasons name. Now we know it by reputation. The staff is excellent and made us feel like celebrities. They were always cheerful and more than willing to answer anything from where to eat, what to do today, where to find little hideaway places, etc. I can't even describe how beautiful this resort is. I felt like I was stepping into a different time and place, paradise indeed! The rooms are huge and the bathrooms are stunning. We had a an in-room shower and 2nd outside shower. We don't play golf, but the course was so beautiful, that we are planning to take lessons so that when we come back for our 5th aniiversary (we're already planning!), we can take advantage of that feature. It was a dream vacation and we want to say "Thanks" for being a part.

Best Resort on the Planet

I give the Four Seasons Hualalai a 6 stars out of 5 rating. It is absolutely impeccable. I've traveled to top notch resorts throughout the world and this definitely rates as my all-time favorite. Thank you Great Hawaii Vacations for getting me an impressively low rate.
Taylor, Beverly Hills, CA

Fabulous!

We've stayed at some pretty nice hotels in Hawaii (Fairmont Kea Lani, Princeville Resort and the Grand Hyatt to name a few) and this was, by far, the best service we've received. Everyone was very friendly and overly accommodating. The snorkeling in King's Pond is great as it's separate from the ocean and completely calm water. A great spot for new snorkelers.

Very Nice Time!

Some friends of ours recommended Great Hawaii Vacations and the RoyalKona Hotel. We weren't disappointed with either. The hotel is built right on the edge of Kailua Bay and the views of the ocean and sunsets were spectacular! The room was quite large and comfortable and decorated with a tasteful Hawaiian decor. We had sliding louvered doors which led out to the balcony. The balconies are quite private, so we able to leave the doors open and hear the waves below us. We watched a lot of sunsets from there. It was also very close to town, and you could walk to all the bars and restaurants in town without getting in to your car. The town is very charming and has a lot of history behind it. It's great for strolling in the evening. The only negative, is that the pool area is very small, but the resort is an easy drive to many wonderful beach sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The view was terrific. And the location was perfect. All in all, one of the best vacations we ever had. Thank you for making it happen.

What an absolutely wonderful place

My family and I just returned from our first visit to Kona, Hawaii. We stayed at the Royal Kona Resort and the one phrase that would sum up our visit is "the photograhs don't do it justice". The staff was friendly, pleasant, and cooperative. The room was great and the price couldn't be beat. We usually ate breakfast at Don's The Beachcomber Restaurant right on site, and it was tremendous. When we did venture to have breakfast elsewhere, Don's couldn't be beat. Poolside adventures were terrific as well as Don's is located right next to the pool. Best Mai Tais in the world-No exaggeration. Kailua is located well within distance of any site you want to see and The Royal Kona Resort is perfectly located in Kailua. We were fortunate enough to see wild sea turtles in the private snorkeling lagoon (on the property), and my wife and I even felt confident and safe enough to leave our daughters in the room (14 and 10 yrs old) to go out alone for a romantice dinner. The luau there (even though we didn't attend that one-we could see it from the pool) was obviously beautiful and fun. The ocean crashed consistently against the volcanic rock just below the protective sea wall, and the sunset from the wall was magnificent. I wish that all of the people associated with the Royal Kona Resort could know just how please we were with our whole Hawaii experience (thanks much to them).

Loved Royal Kona!

We loved the Royal Kona! We were looking for a great value on the Big Island, just a clean place to lay our heads after busy days of sightseeing. Of course we contacted Patti Taylor at Great Hawaii Vacations, she has helped us plan many wonderful trips in the past years. The Royal Kona was more than we expected. I enjoyed my coffee every morning on my large lanai ... watching the resident sea turtle and some mornings I would catch a dolphin playing in the waters that front the resort. The rooms were clean & spacious, the staff was excellent. We would return to Royal Kona every afternoon and relax by the ocean front pool and then enjoy a yummy Mai Tai at Don the Beachcomber, the on site restaurant. We could then walk around the shops in Kona Town, have dinner and then walk back to our hotel. Convenience and relaxation, just what we ordered. Thank you Great Hawaii Vacations for another RIGHT ON recommendation!

Usually Very Good

We have been traveling to Hawaii for several years. When we are visiting the Big Island we have always stayed at the Royal Kona Resort and have reccomended it to our friends. The location is perfect, within walking distance, to downtown Kailua-Kona for my girl friend/wife. The last ime that we stayed here, 2 years ago, they were renovating the buildings and we were booked into a room that NEEDED renovation and was not acceptable. I complained at the desk, and the manager, personally, showed us other rooms, with an upgrade on a room with no extra charge. Clean rooms, good views, especially the corner, ocean front rooms where you have two large balconies, but you have to pay the price. They are continuing the renovations, so rooms in the main building may not be available. I have reservations for August 11, 2007, and will check this out again and post my response.

great hotel

This was surprisingly a great hotel. We had read some of the reviews stating it was under construction and noisy. We arrived to the hotel late as our flight had been delayed 4 hours and the night receptionist was very pleasant in attending to us.We thought the room was far better than we expected with a wonderful view of the ocean and amazing sunsets. The bar overlooking the ocean is a big asset with two of the best bartenders in town.(Garret and Kana). This hotel is in a great location for walking to the shops and restaurants if you don't want to hire a car.We had visited friends at the Hilton and the Sheraton and as nice as these hotels were we much preferred the Royal Kona for convenience and price. We will definately be back.
Holman, West Hills, Ca.

We stay at this hotel for 3-4 weeks every year and find the people, location and service great. If you want perfection, this is not the hotel for you. If you want friendly, comfortable, safe and a good price, this is the best spot where you can walk everywhere. The people that work in the hotel are like family and it's always like going home to relax after working all year. We come home refreshed and happy.
Barbara K., P.G., B.C.

A very pleasant stay

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom compact, but adequate. The aircon was noisy, but the ocean breeze allowed us to leave it off and leave the doors to the large corner balcony open overnight, which was fine. The restaurant was good, as were the many restaurants nearby, all very convenient. An excellent location. We have many beautiful sunset pictures as souvenirs of our stay at Kona and this very nice hotel.

First Time in Paradise

The Royal Kona Resort was much more than I expected. I came with a group of six people including my 85 year old mother. We all had a great time for the week that we stayed, the staff was super. It was very easy to get around even for the older people. Everything is right there in short walking distance. My mother in law was disapointed because she wanted to go also. We plan on coming back in November with my 93 year old mother-in-law and my 88 year old aunt (she wants to go snorkling). Royal Kona Resort will be easy and safe for them to get around by themselves. If you are looking for an absolute wonderful place to stay, I highly reccomend the Royal Kona Resort. What a great introduction to paradise.
Ron Porter, Aurora, Illinois

Renovated Rooms Are Great

We were hoping to save some money, so we booked one of the standard Bay Tower rooms. Big mistake. Those rooms are pretty old and need some updating (which the hotel freely admits). We spoke with a manager and he was kind enough to upgrade us to one of the renovated rooms in the Lagoon Tower. What a difference! The room was new and fresh feeling and the oceanview was great. As long as you're in one of the renovated towers (the other one is the Alii Tower I think) then I can't recommend this place enough. Great rooms, great location, great service. Overall, great hotel!
Johnny Kang, San Diego, CA

Great Value!

We recently stayed at the Royal Kona! loved it! rooms were nice and clean, small but nice pool. Beautiful sunsets, view of turtles swimming in the lagoon. fun little town to walk around at night!

You'll find some of Hawaii's most notable historical attractions and snorkeling sites just a few minutes away from the Kanaloa at Kona by Castle -- Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park, Kealakekua Bay where Captain Cook met his end, and Kahaluu Beach Park.

Kanaloa At Kona a nice place to stay in Kona, Hawaii.

My family recently stayed at Kanaloa at Kona. We go to Kona yearly and this was our first stay at Kanaloa at Kona. We would definitely stay there again. Beautiful grounds, nice oceanfront pool area and our condominum was very nicely decorated and spacious.

Wonderful! Wonderful!

We have traveled to the Big Island four times each time staying at Kanaloa at Kona. It is paradise. Our only regret is not purchasing a unit during our first trip.

Whales Breaching

We stayed at Kanaloa At Kona on our Honeymoon. Couldn't have been any nicer. Grounds were immaculate and our view of the ocean was awe inspiring. Sunsets with the whales breaching was nice. Minutes to everywhere. For sure this is the best. Will be back
Lawrence, Huntington Beach, CA

Great place to stay

We just returned from our 6 night stay at the Kanaloa at Kona. We stayed in unit 103 (2 bedroom plus loft, fairway view) and it was beautiful! It also had 2 bathrooms, plus one in the loft. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Quite luxurious. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the people were very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this resort and feel it deserves more than the average 3 stars. It is at the very least a 4 star resort. Great Hawaii vacations were also professional and helpful in planning our vacation. We all had a wonderful time and if we ever go to Hawaii again, we will book with them! We are so thankful for everything and their prices can't compare to any other agency! Sincerely. The Kendall's

Our Great Hawaii Vacations Review

We were very impressed with the new Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. From its beautiful entrance to its pool side ocean views this hotel is a jewel of Hawaii. The spa and fitness center, oceanfront Crystal Blue Lounge with its evening manta ray watch, water activities (including the longest waterslide in Hawaii), golf and tennis make this one of the top on our list of Hawaii vacation spots.

The Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay was recently completely renovated. They did a terrific job! This hotel will exceed your expectations!

Situated on an ancient lava flow on the southern shore of Keauhou Bay, the hotel rests on 22 spectacular oceanfront acres. The pool area at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay is one of the best in all of Hawaii. The beautifully decorated guests rooms at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay are spacious, each with a private lanai. The hotel rooms feature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds and Sweet Bath amenity line. The oceanfront rooms have spectacular views.

Restaurant Name: Kai Restaurant

Restaurant Kai is aptly named. Kai is the Hawaiian word for ocean and from this restaurant's setting on the northern end of the resort, expansive views of serene Keauhou Bay and the Kona Coastline make it a prime dining spot. Here, in an area once known as "Pa'akai Point" ancient Hawaiians collected precious sea salt. Today, as then, rolling surf collides against black lava outcroppings where pockets of water collect, evaporate and leave salt drying in the hot Hawaiian sun.

For breakfast, Kai offers a lavish buffet of morning favorites punctuated by fresh tropical fruits and juices. Families applaud kid-friendly selections and adults appreciate the variety of healthy selections.

Each evening, Kai is transformed to showcase a backdrop of shimmering moonlight amidst a luxuriant setting. To celebrate the ocean, seafood highlights the dinner menu of surprising sophistication that fuses the cuisines of many cultures of Hawaii in delightful flavor combinations. Each Saturday evening, Kai presents a bountiful Seafood Buffet.

Great Family Resort!!

We chose the Sheraton Keauhou because we heard that it is a family-oriented hotel. Our kids fell in love with the pool. It has a sand beach, waterfalls, bridges, fountains and a 200 foot-long "Lava Slide". There is also an Activities Center and daily children's programs with arts and crafts and a little history of the Islands. The room was great, roomy and clean. The beds were new and quite comfortable. It had a refrigerator was nice to keep cold drinks and water on hand. Yes this hotel is not right in the middle of the 'strip' but that what makes it a resort-you get to relax! Town is only a 10 min drive & theres some shops w/in 5 mins. The best part of this hotel are the manta ray's. The hotel overlooks iagiant cliff and a large group of mantas come here every night to feed. The hotel has a spotlight that shines on them all night. They put on a free show, dancing and playing in the waters below. The kids were mesmerized (so were we). One terrific feature of the Sheraton is their Hospitality Suite. We had a a late flight out and asked about a alate check-out. The staff suggested that we check-out at our required time and they would hold our luggage while we took advanatge of a few more hours on the Island. When we returned, we were shown their Hospitality Suite, this is a fully stocked room. They give it to you at no charge for 1 hour. Plenty of time to shower and change. We found this hotel a terrific place to stay, and our children agree. Mahalo!

My wife, myself and good friends of ours travelled to the resort in May. What wonderful people!!! The service was world class, the resort was absolutely gorgeous.. We've been to many places around the world and throughout the U.S. and have had no better experience. We'll be going back. That is certain!

This is a very nice property!

On the recommendation of a close friend, we stayed at the Royal Sea Cliff to celebrate our anniversary. My husband originally wanted to stay at a hotel, but we liked the thought of having the access to a full kitchen so we went the condo route. Our condo was really nice. We had booked a 1 bedroom but when we got there they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom oceanfront condo. It was beautiful. I don't know how I got the upgrade, but they did it for us. Thanks Royal Sea Cliff for a wonderful time.

Our Great Hawaii Vacations Review

One of our favorite resorts in Kona. The Kona Reef has more amenities than most properties in the area, and enjoys a spectacular ocean front location. This property also has superb areas for family get-togethers, namely the pool and barbecue areas.

Property Description

The Kona Reef is an oceanfront condominium complex with excellent amenities and ocean views. The pool, Jacuzzi and barbecue area are particularly attractive and steps away from the ocean.

The complex is beautifully landscaped, fastidiously maintained and blissfully tranquil. The Kona Reef is in a terrific location. It's just a short walk to picturesque Kailua Village with its shops, seaside restaurants, nightlife, and a beach perfect for kids or the kids at heart.

If you stay in an oceanfront or oceanview condo at the Kona Reef, you will enjoy 180 degree panoramic views of the dramatic Kona coastline and magnificent sunsets in the evening. The building is solid concrete, providing for the utmost privacy and serenity, the only sounds being those of the rustling palms and the gentle surf breaking below your lanai.

Location

The Kona Reef is approximately 20 minutes from Kona International Airport.

Beach Information

There is only one really good beach in Kona. Kahaluu Beach is a small black sand beach with excellent snorkeling. It is located four miles from the Kona Reef.

Awesome Condo

Last year was our second time staying at the Kona Reef. My husband and I stayed there in 1984 and then we stayed there with our two teenagers last year. We were very happy there. This resort is really nice. Our condo was right on the ocean and the view was cool. We could watch sea turtles from our lanai, and saw some beautiful sunsets. Our condo had everything we needed and was nicely furnished and comfortable. There is a little beach right next to the property. The town was about a 5 minute walk and there were plenty of reataurants and shops. We had a great time!

Great View - Quality of room OK

I have stayed at many properties in Kona and on this trip I had the chance to stay at Kona By the Sea. Our condo was really spacious and I liked that the master bedroom had a great view of the ocean. Our condo was not so well decorated but I saw other condos that were much nicer.

Most Relaxing Place to Vacation

The Kona by the Sea offers very spacious accommodation, AC, well stocked kitchen, two bathrooms, large balcony, living room, two large screen TVs, dining area, washer and dryer very handy, beautiful view of ocean and sea life, especially the sea turtles that arrived daily to feast on the green growth on the lava. We have been here twice and plan to go again in early 2005 for at least a month! (again). We really like the relaxation, getting out occasionally for such as the Coffee Festival and being a part of local musical programs and fundraisers for kids. It's getting traffic-clogged but there's still some of that home town atmosphere that we came to appreciate 40 years ago.

Great Value at Top Sport

We arrived out of the blue from down under with nothing booked on the big island when we liked the name. By the time we finished we loved the service, friendly staff and upgrades that made the time even better. Centrally located in Kona and easy walking distance to many restaurants. Lovely outlook on the bay and located to some very historical buildings. Best value hotel we had stayed in over two weeks. We even came back for another night after some touring to Hilo and Hawi. Would stay again.

Made my reservation in April 2007 and requested an OCEANFRONT room. I was told that the rooms were restricted with no explanation as to why, but, I could call later to check on the status> I did every month up until the week before my visit and at that time was told that due the earthquake all rooms on the oceanfront were not being sold due to renovations because of the earthquake. Well, the day i checked in I walked out to the beach side facing the OCEANFRONT and noticed that the rooms were rented to guests at which time I approached the front desk and asked why I was denied a reservation for the oceanfront rooms I had requested in April and not one agent gave me a valid explanation. As for the condition of the room I was rented, I was disappointed.. The carpet needed to be cleaned. The water was leaking either from the tub or the toilet of which I informed the front desk and left a note in the room for the staff to report to maintenance at time of check out The only thing going for this hotel are the housekeeping staff. They were excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We did enjoy the meals served at the restaurant. Your employees are terrific!!! I heard that the hotel is under new management so I hope they will infuse some money into improving the condition of the rooms as I would return if an uplift is done to renovate the rooms. And if done I would even consider paying more for a nicer room because the location is excellent. The pictures do not tell the true story.

Pleasantly Surprised!

We recently returned from the Big Island, where we stayed at the Kahaluu Bay Villas, just a block away from Kahaluu Bay. It's a small condo complex, though the units are quite large and fully equipped, so generally quiet and relaxing. They also have a clean pool and BBQ area, which is a nice "meet and greet" area. When we didn't want to cook, Kona is just a short drive away. This complex has underground parking which keeps your car from getting too hot. It's definitely a plus. Kahaluu Bay seems to be favorite spot for sea turtles. You can watch them sunning themselves on the rocks. The bay is a great area for snorkeling too. It's not a fancy resort, but we really didn't miss anything, not even home (ha ha). We would be happy to return to Hawaii and the Kahaluu Bay Villas.
