Great Getaway!

We stayed at the Marriott for 5 nights. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff were very helpful, responsive and friendly. There is a nice swimming pool overlooking the ocean. The property does not have its "own" beach but rather one has to walk to next door properties (a 45 second walk) There is a great spa on the property. Parking is FREE. If you want peace, quiet and tranquility this is the place to be. I do not play golf but there are some great looking golf courses a short walking distance away. There are on site laundry services, a Mall next door and tons of good restaurants within walking distance.
Tessa, Houston, TX

Inconsistancies!

As return visitors to Wailea, we thought we'd try something new last Christmas. Our experiment wasn't a disaster, but it was not a success either. I've never before had such inconsistant service from a hotel. On the one hand, they brought a nice fruit plate to our room one day. On the other hand, they left me sitting for 45 minutes in the waiting room of the spa - they just forgot about me and my appointment! No apology, no offer to reschedule, no nothing. The grounds were nice, but nothing compared to the other big Wailea resorts, and all the restaurants were quite a disapointment. Although the Marriott is less expensive than other Wailea resorts, I'd say it's money well spent to splurge on another property.
Jennifer, Sacramento, CA

Amazing!

All right, let me paint a picture...You're in your car pulling into the driveway of the resort. Beautiful lush, green tree's cascading over the lane. You pull up and step out of the car into an open-air lobby. The scent of flowers and fruit engulf you. You are greeted by staff who "lai" you and escort you to your clean comfortable room. Mints on the pillows and all. Sound good? I thought so too! And the resort it gorgeous. Theres a big staircase that leads from the open outdoor lobby and beautiful gardens and ponds on the upper level down to 2 of the beautiful Oceanside pools. There is also a Waterpark for kids a short walk away and the beach is about a 30 second walk down a paved walking path. You can get a massage right on the oceanfront. Or just relax on beach chairs and watch the whales and dolphins (which are plentiful even on the off season) swim by. And maybe catch a glimpse of a sea turtle floating around in the waves. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Maui is the place to go if you're considering Hawaii.
Melissa, Strathroy, ON

Love Wailea!

We loved the Wailea Beach Marriott! I had my heart set on staying in Wailea but I didn't think it was going to work with our budget .. then Patti Taylor at Great Hawaii Vacations suggested the Marriott! What an amazing value! We had an beautiful ocean view, fun pool for the kids .. short walk to wonderful restaurants and shops. And don't let the rocky coastline in front of the hotel discourage you .. we had to walk all of about 45 seconds to the beach in front of the hotel next door. We are already planning a return visit!
Desiree', Denver, colorado

Even better the second time!

My husband and I honeymooned at the Wailea Marriott, so we decided to return for our five year anniversary this year. What a difference! We liked the hotel on our honeymoon, but they spruced the place up! We weret told by the staff that they did some major renovations back in 2008 and it really shows. Our room was GORGEOUS. We can't wait to go back!!

Restaurant Name: The Passageway & The Grove
Food Type: Bar/Cocktail Lounge
Price Range: $$
t’s easy to feel drawn to The Grove or Passageway at THE MODERN HONOLULU. Arbors, bougainvillea and hibiscus create a garden allure among the al fresco seating of The Grove; lush banquettes and overstuffed wicker chairs beckon you to lounge in Passageway, an alcove fringed with ferns and palm fronds. Rays of sun and ocean breezes touch the spaces, each with a view to THE MODERN HONOLULU’s Sunrise Pool and yacht harbor just beyond.

To slow things down – anytime – alone or with friends old and new. It’s also one of the best places to eat among Waikiki restaurants. To start, command a table and request Kona coffee roasted locally by Hawaiian Coffee Company. Mid-day into evening, stop in for fresh salads, sandwiches served on our fresh-baked breads and light and sustaining plates showcasing Chef Toner’s finesse with global tastes and island-grown goodness.

As aperitifs, accompaniments or all on their own, drinks at The Grove and Passageway are as stylish as the surrounds. Choose from our expertly-curated wine list, island microbrews including Kona Brewing Co.’s Big Wave Golden Ale and signature cocktails like the Asian-inspired Green Hai, an artisanal mingling of soju, shiso, cucumber and ginger beer. Many afternoons and evenings, live music by local artists drifts in from the Sunrise Deck. It’s perfectly acceptable to pop in casually at The Grove and Passageway. Then the open air envelops you. You find the buzz of guests flowing to and from the pool entrancing; the vignettes as inviting for solitary relaxation as they are for gathering a group. And you decide to stay a while – even if just to reflect on this uncommon experience in Honolulu dining.
Restaurant Name: The Study Lounge
Food Type: Bar/Cocktail Lounge
Price Range: $$
The Study isn't what it immediately seems. It waits demurely behind a wall of books in the lobby of THE MODERN HONOLULU. At 5 p.m. each evening, the bookshelves rotate to reveal The Study's neutral palette and clean lines, whispers of THE MODERN HONOLULU's subtle sophistication. That's your invitation to get to know The Study - a knockout cached in understatement. Cocktail tables are barely an arm's length from endless sectionals, lush ottomans and melt-into-me chairs, but you can always command a seat at the bar - the drinks here are legendary. Try the Fire Across the Sea (The Study's signature mix of wasabi and Sriracha with Grey Goose vodka and Japanese horseradish) or the Wuthering Heights, mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim's epic of Sailor Jerry spiced rum and orange curacao served on the rocks and enhanced by fresh-pressed lemon and a cinnamon-tincture rim.
Restaurant Name: ADDICTION Night Club
Food Type: Bar/Cocktail Lounge
Price Range: $$
Follow the velvet rope to the most exclusive of Honolulu nightclubs. You never know what surprises await – the-most-buzzed-about DJs drop in to guest-spin (including Hawaii's own DJ Anit and DJ Compose). Celebs, lured to the island by the beach, naturally find their way to ADDICTION. (Those in-the-know let ADDICTION lure them here and find the beach later.) Ours is the A-list guest list among clubs in Honolulu. Dance beneath 40,000 lights, or sink into a seat and drink in the scene. Intimate groupings throughout let you lose yourself in the night. The level of service, a signature of THE MODERN HONOLULU, is uncommon among clubs in Waikiki – reserve a VIP table or plan a private event at ADDICTION for the ultimate experience.

Fitness Center

Fitness Center
For you, getting away doesn't mean losing sight of your fitness routine. Steps from THE MODERN HONOLULU's Spa and Sunset Pool, our Waikiki fitness center offers cardiovascular and strength training equipment, yoga essentials and amenities including a state-of-the-art entertainment system. For cardiovascular training, we outfit our Honolulu resort fitness center with elliptical machines and treadmills (each equipped with a personal entertainment system).

For runners, we recommend several options easily accessible from the resort: Run the pedestrian trails along Waikiki Beach (in the early morning, you might even enjoy them to yourself). Wind along the beach and through grassy greens inside THE MODERN HONOLULU's neighboring Ala Moana Park. Challenge yourself on Oahu's iconic landmark, Diamond Head; its namesake road poses an uphill trek that rewards with sweeping views of eastern Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean. Near Diamond Head State Monument, join other runners on the sidewalks of Kapiolani Park, Hawaii's largest and oldest public park marked by beaches and banyan trees.

Back inside the fitness center at THE MODERN HONOLULU, pick up free weights, a mat or a stability ball in front of a mirrored wall. The center also stocks several strength training machines to balance your workout, and is accessible 24 hours a day to guests of THE MODERN HONOLULU.

Spa

The Spa at THE MODERN HONOLULU
You may feel you’ve reached the pinnacle upon entering THE MODERN HONOLULU. Then you step into our spa, and reconsider. Here, our trademark white palette calms. Notes of coconut, lemongrass, passion fruit and vanilla scent the air. Our receptionist offers you a taste of Pure Inventions – the Peach Green Tea is a favorite of our guests. You settle into one of our treatment rooms and let our trained touch wash over you.

The Spa at THE MODERN HONOLULU offers massage, body treatments and facials – including signatures from advanced-technology oxygen infusions to the ancient Polynesian tradition of Lomi Lomi Massage – in addition to nail and waxing services. Start your wedding day the right way with a relaxing Wedding Spa Package. Between or after spa services, claim a chaise straddling the rooftop lagoon and sandy beach; order signature cocktails and organic fare by THE MODERN HONOLULU Executive Chef Scott Toner and watch the sun set from the chicest spot in Honolulu. Add a friend or two to create a Honolulu spa day you won’t forget.

As with all areas of THE MODERN HONOLULU, the service and amenities our spa guests receive are uncommon. We carefully select each of our therapists – not only for their skill, but also for their essence of Aloha, the level of service they provide to our guests. We customize a spa-scription for you following your services, detailing the products incorporated into your spa experience, as well as post-treatment recommendations. During your spa stay, you’ll have access to our luxe locker and shower rooms and complimentary bath amenities – with easy access to our Sunset Pool.*

What a beautiful setting

My wife and I decided to stay our last 2 nights at the Hotel Hana Maui after being 7 nights at the Westin in Kaanapali. Boy, it was good move. The whole Hana area is what I thought Hawaii would be like. Very quiet and peaceful. The staff at the hotel were incredibly kind and generous. We loved the service. If anyone is looking for a beautiful experience, they should try this hotel. It was great for us.
Mike, Richmond, VA

Peaceful, delightful stay

The infinity pool was a work of art. The evenings were quiet and peaceful. During the day, there was plenty to do. Visiting the 7 pools was very special since a llong drive was not required to get there or return to the hotel. There is a very special red crater behind the hote for swimming in a gentle surf.

Just Perfect

We stayed at the beautiful Maui Embassy and got royally spoiled! Wonderful hotel and very friendly staff. Just perfect. ***** Highly recommend!
Shelley Greenwood, Oregon, IL

Enjoyed the Embassy Vacation Resort Maui

My wife and and our twelve year old son recently stayed at the Embassy Vacation Resort in Kaanapali and had a really nice time. This was our third stay at this property. We stay here because we want a property that offers a very nice pool area and also offered suite accommodations for our son. We had a renovated room and enjoyed the view from our room. We always enjoy going to the Kaanapali Beach or the Kapalua Beach and therefore, we do not use the beach in front of the property. The beach in front of the Embassy Vacation Resort is ok but there are much better beaches within a 5 minute drive.
Henry, Miami, FL

Still Talking About Our Experience At the Embassy

My best friend's family and my family went to Maui together on my timeshare at the Embassy Vacation Resort Maui. We had to rooms with a view. We enjoyed the Embassy Resort. The premises is gorgeous and friendly. Our husband's enjoyed the Happy Hour immensely! There was so much to do. The only thing that I didn't like is we had to visit another hotel for the beach because of the currents, and no water activities. However, we have the best memories of our Hawaii experience at the Embassy whenever we get together, which is about twice a month we all talk about our stay and fun time at the pool, breakfast and especially Happy Hour. If I didn't own a timeshare, I definetly would have purchase that one. It was awesome! Can't wait to go again. I would recommend the Embassy Vacation Resort.
Pamela Bird, West Hills, CA

Friendly Resort

My Husband and I stayed at the Embassy Resort in Maui March 1/05 to March 15/05. We went with another couple. The resort is in my opinion a 3 star and believe me I've stayed in 3 star resorts before. We decided to pay each week for breakfast - economical, fast and easy. The rooms are nice, huge bathrooms exactly what you see on the internet, big rooms. The beach is long and I mean long - 1 hour walk one way! Kaanapali Beach is a beautiful beach to pack a cooler and go with lots of upscale shopping. Road to Hana - We did it ourselves so we could stop anytime we wanted to. Snorkling at Moliki crater was wonderful scenery like on National Geographic. If you are Canadian the prices were not expensive for shopping, eating or excursions - comparable to any other Island. We ate mostly on Front St. near Kaanapali beach - Kimos has the best prime rib I've ever had, The Grill on Front St. has the best steak with all the fixings, Heacocks at 500 Front St. has a nice place on the beach - You can see a Luau while dining - great little place. Bubba Gumps was like a roadhouse place that served O.K. food. Front street is the happening place to go. All in all it was a good holiday.
C. Gandza, Burlington, ON

Hawaii is Awesome but the Embassy is Not

I live in Chicago but grew up on Oahu. I was disappointed in the Embassy its pushes condo timeshare sales, the free drinks are disgusting, the breakfast is worse than Old Country Buffet, my room smelled like mold, the beach was pretty bad too. I have also stayed at the Sheraton which is Awesome and the Wailea Resort which also is Incredible. If you never been to Hawaii the Embassy will be fine however, if you've gone to Hawaii before try the other resorts for about the same price. YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID. For couples either would be great, but for families the Sheraton is a little more accomodating with a nice kiddie pool.

We Love Ekahi!

We just returned from our second trip to Maui, and our second stay at Ekahi. We LOVE it. It is a beachfront complex in Wailea and has a beautiful oceanfront pool. The complex is impeccably maintained and the foliage is mature and lush. The units are spacious. We have stayed in a 1br/2BA and a 2BR/2BA and both were very well kept and stocked with everything we needed. The ocean views from both units were fabulous. Can't wait to go back!

Our Hawii Beachl Vacation

We found the Ehahi as a wonderful place for our beach side vacation. Our unit was well appointed, very confortable and conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the pool & beach. The patio was very confortable with a gas grill for cooking out. The landscaping was terrific, and the abundance of flowering plants made our brief walk very enjoyable. The pool & cabana were well maintained, with easy access to a great sandy beach; which was just a short couple of minutes walk(approx 200 yards) to a great snorkling coral reef which had abundant fish and sea turtles. The resort is close to the Wailea Beach walkway, which is a 1.5 mile paved walking path, just off the beach in front of the various resorts. My wife & I highly reccomend this resort, and will definately return.

Great Place to stay

We rented a 2BR/2Bath condo and loved it. We were part way up the hill so it was a 2-3 minute walk to the beach. Had a great view of the water. The beach was great and it was just a couple hundred yards north of the start of the Wailea beach sidewalk. Enjoyed the pools and shuffleboard also. The condo was spacious and well maintained. All are individually owned so they may not all be as well outfitted or maintained. If you want to stay in Wailea without spending too much money this is a great option.

Favorite Place To Vacation

We have spent our honeymoon there the first time and have gone back for a total of three times and soon to be the fourth time. We love it.

Best Ocean View in all the islands

We really enjoyed out stay and what a superb ocean view. From our balcony we saw dolphins, whales, sea trtules (lots of them every day) and even a monk seal sleeping on the rocks. An amazing show. We could not have asked fir more. Thank you Great Hawaii Vacations.

Excellent View and accommodations

What we saw from our lanai stunned us from the moment we walked in until the end of our ten-day stay. Every day we saw green sea turtles feeding on the rocks. We saw spinner dolphins in the bay. On most days we saw Gray Whales as they moved up the coast. An on the edge of Breneke's beach, we saw a beautiful monk seal. All the while the waves lulled us into a most relaxed state. What an excellent place to spend a vacation. Thank you Great Hawaii Vacations for recommending this excellent property.

Sunny Poipu - The Makahuena

Beautiful, spacious oceanfront condo, our view was amazing(although the windows should have been cleaned and were not the entire 12 days) Staff was friendly and helpful, Great BBQ area to grill fresh fish, Overall pleased and most liking will stay here again..good rate for an above average condo.

Had A good Time - A Little Noisy

Though the condo complex is a bit old and outdated it was a fun place to stay. Only minutes from the best beaches, it was a great location to relax and enjoy the sound of the ocean crashing on the waves. A bit on the noisy side as you can hear everything outside the condo, footsteps, laughter, we even heard people whispering, the design is perfect for echoes. Older, but nice, perhaps a bit on the pricey side.
Pete, Portland, OR

Bad Experience

Awesome ocean front view, however being it's a condotel a condo resident actually harassed us for no reason that we could think of. She followed, questioned and harassed us. Stated she pays $900 a month to live there, what were we doing there? We had friends over for a nice dinner and after they left she stopped them in the parking lot to question them and telling them they didn't belong here. OMG what a nightmare! I had to file a formal complaint! Condo was nice. No AC and basic supplies that should have been supplied were no where to be found!

Is this what Paradise looks like?

We stayed 10 nights at the Lae Nani and what can I say other than what a truly wonderful experience we had. The units are nicely appointed and the views are simply awe inspiring. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I thought it was a bit expensive before I arrived, but once I saw what I was getting. The money was well worth spent.

Close to Everyting and Very Nice

We like this property because it is close to everything. We particularly enjoy the location because it is close to the Coconut Market Place, Wailua and Kapaa. There is an abundance of restaurants and shops within walking distance or only a few minute car drive. We also enjoy that we can drive either to the Northshore or Poipu in only 30 minutes for great beaches and snorkeling. The condos at the Lani Kai are very large and we have always enjoyed that since it is a small property we feel that we are in paradise.

Had a Great Trip to Kauai

Recently returned from the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort. My wife and I had a great trip. The resort is conveniently located and very reasonably priced. We also liked the quality of our unit. I would recommend it and also would stay there again.

Favorite Place

My husband and I got married on the beach at this hotel. We searched the island for the perfect beach and found it right outside our hotel. The setting by the ocean is wonderful for photos. The staff was so helpful and friendly and helped us with our every need. We plan on returning for our second time soon. This hotel is centrally located on the island and close to everything you need. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent Place To Stay

It is not often that I book a place to stay sight unseen. In June our family decided last minute to take a trip. My mother in law was ill and it was her wish to take the family (5 adults and 2 preschoolers) to Hawaii. I found Great Hawaii Vacations and emailed them my requirements. At short notice (less than a month), they found me a perfect 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo on the ground floor. We loved the Kahana Outrigger and had a superb vacation. We will return to Maui again and will likely book through Great Hawaii Vacations.
Marcia Mills, Calgary, AB

We stayed at the Kahana Outrigger.....spectacular!!!!

We booked our accomations via the internet. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Each of our 3 children and their spouses were celebrating their 25th anniversaries. So we went to Maui to celebrate. We were absolutely delighted with our accomadations and we will highly recommend it to others. There was nothing that we needed while there that the condo did not have. It was wonderful and we all look forward to returning someday soon.
