By the pool, the Billfish Bar is a perfect place to enjoy a cool and refreshing tropical drink while snacking on a wide choice of pupus or appetizers.
Sunsets at the Billfish Bar are memorable and blend beautifully with the sounds of Hawaiian musicians who perform every evening from Tuesday through Saturday.
Designated as the "Favorite Hotel Restaurant- Neighbor Island" by the Honolulu Advertiser in 2000, 2001 and 2004, the Kona Beach Restaurant provides guests with a casual dining experience and an unbeatable view. Each table has an outlook of the ocean and Kamakahonu Bay with the historical Ahu'ena Heiau as a striking focal point.
The restaurant supplements its daily breakfast buffets throughout the week. The Sunday Brunch is another weekly favorite at the Kona Beach Restaurant.
We arrived out of the blue from down under with nothing booked on the big island when we liked the name. By the time we finished we loved the service, friendly staff and upgrades that made the time even better. Centrally located in Kona and easy walking distance to many restaurants. Lovely outlook on the bay and located next to some very historical buildings. Best value hotel we had stayed in over two weeks. We even came back for another night after some touring to Hilo and Hawi. Would stay again.

Made my reservation in April 2007 and requested an OCEANFRONT room. I was told that the rooms were restricted with no explanation as to why, but, I could call later to check on the status> I did every month up until the week before my visit and at that time was told that due to the earthquake all rooms on the oceanfront were not being sold due to renovations because of the earthquake. Well, the day i checked in I walked out to the beach side facing the OCEANFRONT and noticed that the rooms were rented to guests at which time I approached the front desk and asked why I was denied a reservation for the oceanfront rooms I had requested in April and not one agent gave me a valid explanation.
As for the condition of the room I was rented, I was disappointed.. The carpet needed to be cleaned. The water was leaking either from the tub or the toilet of which I informed the front desk and left a note in the room for the staff to report to maintenance at time of check out The only thing going for this hotel are the housekeeping staff. They were excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did enjoy the meals served at the restaurant. Your employees are terrific!!! I heard that the hotel is under new management so I hope they will infuse some money into improving the condition of the rooms as I would return if an uplift is done to renovate the rooms. And if done I would even consider paying more for a nicer room because the location is excellent. The pictures do not tell the true story.
