Imagine the touch of sand at your feet, the gentle pounding of the surf and the smell of the salt in the air. Our ancestors used the ocean for travel, recreation and a never-ending resource for food. The Canoe was an integral part of the life in Polynesia enabling the proliferation of culture, religion and art throughout the Pacific. In the same spirit we hope to share the bounty and diversity of the Pacific through our food, service and atmosphere.
Whether guests desire a table indoors or outdoors, Canoes provides views of the Ala Wai Yacht Marina and breathtaking sunsets. Canoes at the Ilikai specializes in regional Hawaiian cuisine with an emphasis on fresh local produce and seafood.

I was surprised the hotel was reasonably priced and is nice... the lobby is nice but not extremely fancy, but the rooms have recently been renovated and the decor is new and very nice. The air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was renovated, but the bathtub/showers are older- but very large and clean. We didn't use the pool, but it looked good. I'm really picky about hotel rooms' cleanliness - and I was pleased with this hotel. The hotel is next to a marina and is on the water, but not the beach. You can easily walk to the beach - about 1/8 mile. I used to live in Hawaii and I recommend you don’t just stay in Honolulu, but venture out to other parts of Oahu (and other islands if you can) to get the best vacation. Visit the North Shore (Waimea Beach/Sunset Beach), Kaneohe, Kailua... visit other beaches besides Waikiki (most locals don't even go to Waikiki Beach!!) and do some hiking! It's some of the best hiking in the U.S.

A place to be comfortable among a staff of friends and fine folks
I have been fortunate enough to visit Hawaii, and in particular Oahu, many times and almost without exception I have stayed at the ILIKAI. This venerable site has undergone many managements and rehabs with always-fine results. An ocean view condo in the main tower is ideal for the scenery, entertainment, (nightly torch ritual, frequent musicians and people watching) and overall comfort. To me, the key to an Ilikai room is its people. The front desk is staffed with knowledgeable, friendly, and just plain helpful, good folks. One person at the front desk is Judy, who has labored long and hard to the benefit of her customers. In my case she has become a true family friend. She is a true ambassador for the hotel. There is no better feeling when arriving in a far away city then to have a smiling face welcome you with sincerity and enthusiasm. Judy's sister Doris, another friend - in reservations -is equally anxious to ensure you’re comfortable stay. Because of our many stays at the ILIKAI even the General Manager extends a hand in welcome. All are a very fine feeling. The hotel's facilities are all grand. The Diamond Head side pool is a most relaxing locale for tanning, swimming, reading or sleeping with a gentle breeze wafting the pleasant aroma of sun tan oils. I could go on with many superlatives that would all apply to other parts of the ILIKAI's premises but it would take a larger format than this. There are several on-sight restaurants of varying $$ but each special in its own way. A medical office is on the first floor with a doctor in attendance most hours - a bit of insurance that hopefully you won't require, but peace of mind to know it's there. The hotel rooms are clean, spacious, fresh and well maintained. With these few words you may realize I am an ILIKAI enthusiast and I have no reservation about recommending the Ilikai to anyone traveling to Hawaii. The property may have a few years on it but many monies have been spent in keeping the ILIKAI current and desirable. Have a nice stay and tell them "Bill sent me".

great hotel
We really enjoyed the Ilikai hotel. It is centrally located to everything, very friendly staff and very helpful. Great accomodations. The elevators are slow but over all a great place to stay. We'll be back!

Thank you so much for helping me book my hotel through Great Hawaii Vacations. I originally booked the Aqua Wave Hotel, and you offered a recommendation on the Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel. I took your advice and cannot thank you enough. The location was great, as well as the amenities & services the hotel had to offer. I would definately stay at that hotel again.
