Ironwood Hills Golf Coure is a nine-hole public course located near the
Kalaupapa Peninsula on Molokai's rugged north shore. For nearly forty
years, it was the first and only golf course on the island.
As with much else on Molokai, the history of Ironwood Hills is connected to the varying fortunes of the pineapple plantation owners who dominated island life much of this century.
Ironwood Hills is a straightforward mountain course with few doglegs and no ponds. The challenge on this course lies in the hilly terrain, the narrow, heavily-wooded fairways, and the small, fast greens. In addition, the strong trades on Molokai's north shore can reach up to 25 miles per hour in the afternoon, and golfers may find it advisable to play this course in the morning hours. Reservations for tee times are advised on this course and golfers may walk, although golf carts as well as clubs are available for rent.

This is Molokai Island's only resort golf course. The 18 hole par 72
layout was designed by Ted Robinson. The par 4 tenth hole has a dog leg
that borders on the Pacific Ocean, reminiscent of the famous 18th hole at
Pebble Beach. It opened in 1977 and has a high season from December to
Carts are mandatory and golfers can call 30 days in advance for tee times. Groups of 16 and more can call up to a year in advance. Golfers enjoy the five holes on the ocean and say the challenging course is tough if windy, but fair and fun.
